Each morning I have approximately five minutes to get dressed before I have to get everyone breakfast, coax my two oldest to hop in the shower, and follow the morning routine.
All of this before running out the door to get my four elementary school kids to school in time.
If I don’t get dressed then, I will most likely be in my pajamas for the rest of the day.
To look put together I follow these Mom Outfit basics in three steps. ( We’ll call them steps because Rules are so restrictive.)
You can even mix the steps up. For example, I have a bright red blazer that I love to wear. So I just grab a black and white striped top and black pants for my neutral. For my texture I would add black and white polkadot shoes.
Choose a NEUTRAL piece.
Add a TEXTURE.
Put in a pop of COLOR.

I actually think navy and white stripes can be neutral, because you can pair almost anything with navy stripes. Flowers, geometrics, solids. The possibilites are endless!

That includes busier prints that you would not consider neutral. Sometimes you can get away with texture and color in one.
If it was me, I would be wearing two or three textures together because I love a busy outfit. For some people that is too much and maybe a solid outfit with busy shoes is perfect for them. Go with your style, and what feels good on you.

If you have chosen a flowered top as your texture piece, pull the brightest color out of there and use an accessory in that color.
Now it is your turn.
